Baseball is a part of us all. It infuses every aspect of American culture. Jackie Robinson’s debut in the majors was a catalyzing moment in quest for civil rights. Our language is infused with so much baseball slang, that non-native speakers need to become fans just to keep up with the conversation. And whether you’ve ever been to a sports hall of fame, Cooperstown, NY rings true as the greatest of all.
But if making sense if baseball was the philosophical challenge facing the Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum, getting people to Cooperstown was the existential one.
As the global front door to the Hall of Fame, the website was a fine opening play.
The Baseball Hall of Fame organization is staffed and led by hardcore Baseball fans—folks who can quote a player’s lifetime statistics chapter and verse. Even still, they recognized the need for a more emotional and engaging story that would resonate with fellow mavens and more casual followers. That’s what was achieved with their new website.
